Two Old-Time Winter Outings

Another Glorious Day

7:00 AM  
     
Turn out, everybody!
7:30 AM  
  
Now for the flapjacks and syrup.
8:00 AM  
Some wood for the fires and Inspection.
9:00 AM White Pine Patrol: Tree Hike;  Fox Patrol: Tracking; Quail Patrol: Bird Feeding; Seal Patrol: Ice Fishing.
12:30 PM Reports of Patrols. 
1:00 PM Chow and free time. 
2:00 PM  Hikes, explorations, games and winter sports. 
5:00 PM  Time for Scout advancement and tests. 
6:00 PM  Supper and free time. 
7:00 PM  Songs and stories around the log fire. 
9:00 PM  Hot chocolate, doughnuts and pop corn. 
10:00 PM Day is done! 

 

Snow Program

FIRST DAY

2:30 PM (At Troop Headquarters) Check up.  Patrol Leaders' Report.   Scribe collects parents' consent.   Check up on equipment.

2:40 PM 

Start camping trip. 
3:40 PM Arrival at campsite.  Cleaning tent sites from snow.  Pitching the tents.  Shoveling snow up alongside the tent for warmth.  Preparing camp beds in tents.
4:30 P. M.  Prepare supper.
5:30 P. M.  Supper. 
6:30 P. M.  Short evening.  Star Study.  If moonlight a vigorous game.
7:30 PM  Campfire.  Different campfire entertainment.  Marsh mallow toast.  Preparing and drinking of hot ginger or lemon tea.  Close with Taps or Scoutmaster's Bene diction.
  8:30 PM  Tattoo.  Make ready for the night. 
8:45 PM Taps.

SECOND DAY

7:00 AM  Reveille.  Washing.
7:30 AM  Preparing of breakfast. 
8:00 AM  Breakfast.
  8:30 AM  Prepare the tents for inspection.  Arrange Patrol and individual equipment in an orderly manner. 
9:00 AM   Inspection by Scoutmaster.  Assistants and Patrol Leaders. 
9:15 AM Tracking Hike followed by a snowball fight and other winter fun. 
11:00 AM Return to camp.  Prepare dinner. 
12:00 PM Dinner. 
12:30 PM Cleanup.  Start breaking camp. 
1:00 PM  Start trip home. 
2:00 PM Dismissal (at Troop Headquarters)
