PART 6 – BADGES, AWARDS and

BADGES of AUTHORITY

 

GENERAL

 

1. Many of the badges described in this Part incorporate the Wolf’s Head or the Arrowhead and / or the words B-P Scouts.  These are copyright protected by our UK Association HQ.  The Otter badges will be copyrighted in The United States by B-PSA.

 

2. Badges of Authority are obtained from the State Quartermaster, or through the State Badge Secretary.

 

3. Leaders and persons of Honorary authority, who have made the Scout Promise in accordance with Part 1, Article 6 & 7, wear, on the uniform shirt, and centered on the left breast pocket, the Tenderfoot badge.

 

4. The badges of two or more roles may not be worn at the same time,

 

A). The uniform and badges of authority, being the sign of the Chief Commissioner’s confidence and trust, will be worn by the Leader on all occasions when in uniform.

 

B). A Leader who is also a Rover, may if they so desire, wear at all times on their uniform the green Rover epaulettes together with any Rover proficiency badges to which they may be entitled.

 

C). A Leader who holds more than one Warrant of Appointment will wear the badges and uniform appropriate to the particular occasion.  Where this is not practicable, the uniform and badges of the senior authority are worn.

 

OTTERS - BADGES

 

5. An Otter wears the following badges:

 

A). A cap badge is worn on the center, front of the Cap.

 

B). The Paw Prints and other badges are worn on the Right Sleeve.  On completion of the program, the four Paw Prints will be in a diamond formation.

 

C). A cloth B-PSA membership badge on the left side of the tunic at heart level.  On the opposite side is the WFIS emblem.

 

D). The group flash will be located at the top of the right sleeve.

 

E).  Badges will be worn on both the T-Shirt and the Sweat Shirt.

 

TIMBERWOLF - BADGES

 

6. A TimberWolf wears the following badges:

 

A). A Cloth badge with a Wolf’s head on the left breast of the shirt.  The WFIS Badge is worn centered on the right breast pocket.

 

7. A TimberWolf Seconder wears badges as for a TimberWolf, and in addition, one armlet of yellow braid, 12mm wide, and 7 cm above the left elbow.

 

8. A TimberWolf Sixer wears badges as for a TimberWolf, and in addition, two yellow armlets.  The two braids should be 2cm apart, with the bottom one 7cm above the left elbow.

 

9.  A TimberWolf Senior Sixer wears badges as for a TimberWolf and in addition three yellow armlets. The three braids should be 2cm apart, with the bottom braid 7cm above the left elbow.

 

10.TimberWolf proficiency badges are worn on the right arm in parallel rows between the shoulder and elbow, except as follows:

 

A). The First Star is worn on the cap on the right of the Cap Badge.

B). The Second Star is worn on the cap on the left of the Cap Badge.

 

 

B-P PATHFINDER BADGES

 

11. The Tenderfoot badge is earned prior to and awarded at investiture.  It is worn centered on the left breast pocket.  The WFIS Badge is worn centered on the right breast pocket.

 

12. A B-P Pathfinder Second wears badges as for a B-P Pathfinder, and in addition, on the left breast pocket, one white braid vertical stripe, 75mm long and 12mm wide, on the right-hand side of the Tenderfoot Badge.

 

13. A B-P Pathfinder PL wears badges as for a B-P Pathfinder, and in addition, two white stripes; one on each side of the Tenderfoot Badge.

 

14. A B-P Pathfinder Troop Leader wears badges as for Patrol Leader but with the addition of a third white stripe under the Tenderfoot Badge.

 

15. Proficiency badges are worn on the right arm in parallel rows between the shoulder and elbow. Public Service Proficiency badges  (or St. George’s Award qualifying badges) are worn as above on the left sleeve with the First Aid Badge as the top badge.

 

16. Special Proficiency Level badges are worn as follows:

 

A). The Second Class Badge is worn 6cm above the left elbow.

 

B). The First Class badge is worn when gained in place of the Second Class Badge.

 

17. Additional Proficiency Awards are worn as follows:

 

A). The B-P Pathfinder Cord will be worn round the left shoulder.

 

B). The Bushman’s Thong is worn round the right shoulder.

 

C). The Seafarer or Air B-P Pathfinder Badge is worn in the center of the right arm.

 

D). The St. George’s Award is worn on the left arm above the First Class Badge and surrounded by the required qualifying Public Service badges.

 

18. Shoulder knots are worn at the top of the left sleeve, pinned to the edge of the epaulette.

 

19. Other authorized badges are worn as follows:

 

A). Group flash:                        Worn top of the right sleeve.

 

B). American Flag Badge:         Worn centered, 1.5 cm. above top of left breast pocket only when overseas.

C). Scouting Decorations:         Worn centered above the right pocket

 

D). Red Cross First Aid badge:  Worn 4cm above left elbow.

 

E).  Seafarers will wear the Anchor Badge centered 4cm above the left breast pocket.

      The Red Anchor Badge will be replaced with the White, and the White by the Gold, as earned.  B-P Pathfinders are entitled to wear the Anchor Badge, if earned.

 

F). Air B-P Pathfinder wings may be worn by any B-P Pathfinder, Senior B-P Pathfinder, Rover, or Leader who holds a valid pilots license for either gliders or powered aircraft.  Holders of military aircrew wings may also wear Air B-P Pathfinder wings centered above any Queen’s Medals on the left pocket.


SENIOR B-P PATHFINDER BADGES

 

20. The Tenderfoot badge, if not earned as a B-P Pathfinder, is earned prior to and awarded at investiture.  It is worn centered on the left breast pocket. The WFIS Badge is worn centered on the right breast pocket.  Maroon epaulettes are worn on the shirt.

 

21. A Senior Second wears badges as for a Senior B-P Pathfinder, and one vertical braid stripe as in Article 11, but maroon in color.

 

22. A Senior Patrol Leader wears badges as for a Senior B-P Pathfinder, and two vertical braid stripes as in Article 12, but maroon in color.

 

23. A Senior Troop Leader wears badges as for a Senior Patrol Leader with the addition of a third maroon stripe under the Tenderfoot Badge.

 

24. Other authorized badges are worn as in Articles 18 & 19.

 

ROVER BADGES

 

25. A Rover Squire who was a B-P Pathfinder, or who has passed the Tenderfoot Test and made the Scout Promise, wears appropriate badges as for a B-P Pathfinder as described in Article 10.

 

26. A Rover Squire who has been a Senior B-P Pathfinder wears badges as for Senior B-P Pathfinder as described in Article 20.

 

27. A Rover wears the following badges:

A). The Tenderfoot badge worn centered on the left breast pocket.

 

B). The WFIS Badge worn centered on the right breast pocket.

 

C). Green epaulettes.

 

28. A Rover Mate wears badges as for Rovers and two vertical red braid stripes worn on either side of the Tenderfoot Badge.

 

29. A Rover may continue to wear the St. George’s Award.

 

30. A Rover may continue to wear the Bushman’s Thong, Air Troop Badge, or the Gold Anchor Badge.

 

31. On gaining the B-P Award, a Rover will remove all other proficiency badges from their uniform.  The B-P Award is worn on the left epaulette.

 

 

32. Other Authorized Rover Badges are worn as follows:

A). The Scoutcraft Star is worn on the left epaulette.

 

B). The Rambler’s Badge is worn on the left epaulette below the Scoutcraft Star.

 

C). The Project Badge is worn on the right epaulette.

 

D). The Service Star is worn on the right epaulette, above the Project Badge.

 

E). The Rover Instructor Badge is worn on the right breast pocket flap.

 

LEADER BADGES

 

33. The Tenderfoot Badge is worn centered on the left pocket after a Leader has been invested.  The WFIS Badge is worn centered on the right breast pocket.

 

34. All members wear a plain silver cap badge on berets, over the left eye.

 

35. Seafarer Leaders wear a white naval pattern Peaked Hat, with plain black brim.  Air Troop Leaders wear an Air Force blue beret.

 

36. The following are the colors of the shoulder knots worn by Leaders:

 

            Otter Leader:                            None

            TWM                                       None

            PFL   (Seafarer & Air Troop)   Green

            SPFL                                     Green

            Assistant Otter Leader: None

            ATWM                                    None

            APFL (Seafarer & Air Troop)  Red

            ASPFL                                  Red

            RS                                           Red, green & yellow

            GSM                                        White

            District Scouters                       White & Green

            State Staff                                Yellow

            Commissioners             None

 

37. Leaders who have earned or won Queen’s Medals may wear them centered above their left breast pocket.

 

38. Leaders may wear any earned Scouting decorations, regardless of which Association or country awarded them; centered above the right pocket.

 

39. Leaders working with Senior B-P Pathfinders wear maroon epaulettes.

 

40. Leaders working with Rover Crews wear green epaulettes.

 

41. A Chaplain wears on the right breast pocket a cloth badge, on a green background a yellow cross with the arrowhead superimposed.

 

42. Honorary ranks wear uniform and badges as for a Leader.  Honorary members of a Seafarer Troop or Air Troops will wear uniform appropriate for that section.

 

43. Other authorized badges are worn as in Articles 14 to 19.        

 

44. Beret Flashes.  The following colored felt flashes are worn behind the cap badge on the beret:

 

            Otter Leader:                            Green

            Assistant Otter Leader: Red

            TimberWolf Master                  Green

            Assistant T.W.M.                     Red

            B-P Pathfinder Leader              Green

            Assistant E.L.                           Red

            Senior B-P Pathfinder Leader   Green
