Dog Dance o f Woodcraft (a) Enter, from all possible corners, singing, pairs of dancers-in each pair, one representing the Dog, dressed as above; and behind him, the Master, holding him by the leash. The war bonnet shows that the Dogs are the ones to be honored; and the red oblongs hide the faces, acting as masks and disguising the character. The Dogs are straining at the leashes; the Masters holding them back. Use one step to each measure; but be accurate in the changes of rhythm from 3-part to 2-part time. On the last measure, the Dogs yelp twice S meas. (b) Still straining, Masters trot-step sidewise to left, pulling the Dogs, the latter yelping again on the last measure S meas. (c) The Masters trot-step in toward center, the Dogs to their left toward outside of circle, exchanging places S meas. (d) The Masters strain back, the Dogs paw the ground with right foot, bodies bent forward at waist S meas. (e) All trot-step to right, Dogs diagonally in front of Masters, in an outer circle, and barking 5 meas. ( f ) Dogs cross in front of Masters, trot-step in toward center, and drop to all-fours in a small circle s meas. The Masters drop leashes, stand in outer circle, feet tight together; both hands at sides, a little backward, palms forward; head bowed, and sing last 6 measures of song, while Dogs drop heads to ground in front of knees, chanting Ah-ooooo Ah-oooooo Ah-ooooo00 6 meas.
