Service Project Contest
|
|
A famous Scouter of long standing, Dr. William G Vinal, has suggested this practical Good Turn Competition.
The ContestGive Patrols fifteen minutes to meet and decide what Good Turns they will do and to get whatever equipment they will need. Next assemble the Troop for final instruction and start the contest. At the end of time - a half hour or more - the contest is concluded. The judges tour the camp with the Patrol Leaders or Patrol representatives and score one point for every Good Turn and additional points for the better ones.
Woodsy Good TurnsLabeling miscellaneous nature specimens, such as trees, shrubs, edible plants, poisonous plants; isolating or cleaning up fire hazards; marking and concealing rare and rapidly disappearing plants; setting out food for birds; gathering nature specimens to start a camp museum, etc.
TipsHave Patrol reports on the contest at the evening camp fire. If the camp site and swimming area needs cleaning, include that as a project. |
