Produce real signal pads if possible, or telegram forms,
and give one to each bed, and a pencil and book to write
firmly on.
Choose the best signaler for the Flagship (in
bed), representing a battleship.
The Admiral sends out
instructions with his semaphore flags, or arms, to the rest
of the fleet, each bed representing a ship of the line.
The order could be, " I am altering course 10 degrees."
The other ships each write down the message on the
form.
The first one to get it down correctly, as he thinks, then
relays it ashore to one of the Rover Instructors at the other
end of the ward.
Any ship may signal to the Admiral to say,
" Submarine sighted on the port bow," etc., but no speaking
is allowed.
Points are lost if any ship, who can't read
well, uses his own voice for a megaphone to inquire any
thing.
This helps to make signaling really interesting.
